When considering a move to Lake Tahoe, one of the primary concerns for families is the quality of education available. As someone who moved here in 2009, and now has a young family, this has also been my concern in the past few years. But don’t worry, my research shows that Lake Tahoe offers a variety of schooling options, each with its own unique benefits for different student needs. 

Lake Tahoe Unified School District (LTUSD)

LTUSD covers South Lake Tahoe and offers diverse programs with strong emphasis on environmental science. This guide will help you understand what to expect from schools in the Lake Tahoe Unified School District (LTUSD).

The latest data of LTUSD indicates that it serves approximately over 3,900 students across eight schools, including four elementary schools, one middle school, one comprehensive high school, one continuation high school, and an online learning academy. The district prides itself on embracing diversity, with a student body that is 46% White, 45% Hispanic/Latino, 4% Asian, and 4% multiracial, among other demographics​.
